Is Bravado adding value?

I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed many threads, one or two pick me up stories, but I am saying I have been on other platforms that seem to add more value, specific leads or helpful information about certain leaders in the industry, so that when it comes to the commission system, it doesn't make sense to me. In ad-sales by the way, maybe that's why I'm finding it less valuable?

I think a lot of the BS threads are a result of removing the downvote button. If we could vote down the useless posts, it would be a better experience

I think a rework needs to happen... the amount of just absolute shit threads is unreal.

If the downvote button wasn't a "hurt feelings" button or an "I disagree" button it would add value, but unfortunately that is what it is. If downvotes were hidden? Or if they were a multiplier hit on the decay of a post, it would be a much better place.

It was abused so it was taken away, but now that it is gone people are badge/commission farming. They are working on a fix.

Is badge farming a thing? Like... for real? I think it's commish farming.

@BitchPitch The downvotes were taken away because people figured out you can downvote EVERYTHING someone has done to move up in the leaderboard vs contributing.

Yes. People post something stupid - get 25 comments, reply "100%" or "this ^" to every comment, and since your own comments count towards the fire starter and catalyst badges, once they get those the behavior stops to a degree. Commish farming is definitely an issue as well.

We see the same patterns, I agree. The feed gets spammed with "pump up songs" "best tv/movie", I try and have decent posts, but they get swallowed, no engagement (no poll), no comments etc.

At what point do we live "Don't hate the player, hate the game"? We know the Bravado team is working on fixes, and they are big sweeping fixes. Who would have thought a room of highly competitive a type personalities would find a way to "win" internet points?

Unrelated but I think pertinent:
You're one of the OGs here
I notice you respond to posts without upvoting - is this just a habit? Or engagement thing on your end (no offence). How can we keep a positive community if you don't at least upvote comments?

My general rule of thumb is upvote all posts I comment on, unless they are a shit post that I am calling out. Comments are hit or miss, I jump in and out on calls so I am definitely less consistent than I could be. Sometimes I upvote, sometimes I comment quickly and move on. Comments I want to bump up the post I upvote as well. It kinda all depends - do I think all posts and comments deserve upvotes? Absolutely not, most do, but not all.

Edit - I also stop upvoting each response the farther down a reply-thread I go. I upvote the OG comment, and any particular reply I find engaging, like your one above for example.

that's fair regarding your upvote scheme. I try and upvote thoughtful comments, or something I reply to.

I think we all see the same crap posts, and it's hard to reward that behavior.

Sure, but there’s not enough voting going on to begin with, so downvoting could just take away from content bubbling up.

Just pick the threads you want to engage with and disregard the ones you don't like or u deem to be 'shit'. It's pretty self-governing in my opinion

The value comes from the uncensored commentary of others. Posting questions that they can't go to a direct superior or feel uncomfortable asking in a non-anonymous setting. WR provides a small outlet for sales people to get advice, check out what others do, create ideas based off what they have seen in posts and use it in there day-to-day job. Its not about finding leads but helping sales people be better.

The commission system encourages users to participate, add value, engage in discussion, & help others so they can get some free stuff in the process. It is not perfect but a mechanism to encourage participation.

The ANON part is where I get the best value. I like the ability where no one is trying to DOXX or sewer folks.

I do get a good laugh here and there, but it's up to us to start policing the threads, and calling out the shit posters (or getting some sort of admin stuff)

You know:

Not as much value as I hoped it would, but I'm also giving out more advice vs. not engaging on other portals.

I like the aspect of it being a selected group and anonymous, but I don't know how stringent they are actually being with letting people in.

To my commish? Yeah. To my linkedIn profile? Nah.

(Actually not to commish much either but whatever. I enjoy it. Sometimes.)

There's a ton of value! I've never been able to get unfiltered stories about comp, promotion, firing, changing jobs, hairy deals, etc. from any other source. Yes, there's duplicate threads and other UX improvements needed, but for a young seller like myself, it's so cool to get raw perspective around the industry.

I have definitely had value added by posting genuine questions which i would perhaps be worried to put up on linkedin.  I post stuff on here that i wouldnt on LI because im mostly connected to customers/prospects on LI and i dont want my feed to be all about sales on there.  So value is added here where i can post about stuff and get advice from fellow sales savages.

That said, I can identify a few on here who post purely for the commission and the posts and comments that go along with it dont really add value imo

Definitely still finding their footing.

Once downvoting is re-enabled and people get burnt for gaming the system we'll see a stronger/more relevant feed.

I think it is a nice balance of fun vs serious. There are certain threads I'm clicking into knowing it's just going to be a good laugh with funny comments. On the other hand, the poles and discussions I've taken part in have absolutely added value.

It's all about balance and expectation. Those who are strictly looking to learn are either in the wrong spot or are a straight try hard. Life's too short can't take everything so seriously.
