Plan on leaving my role soon after a year and a half ish. Should I simply wait until the new year when hiring should (I hope so) pick up soon?

To everyone commenting this - I’m constantly connected with our team throughout the day (micromanaging to the max) and don’t have time to be interviewing during normal working hours. I have already started the search in terms of narrowing down my target companies and sending out resumes, but besides brief intro calls I don’t have time to go through longer calls like mocks. It looks like my current company only has a few months of runaway as is
Now is a great time to START your job search. Make calls, get interviews, etc.. No one will make a decision till after Jan 1, but if you get started NOW, your search will be shorter come the new year.
Hold your horses, Bucky. You can't quit before you've got something else. I mean, you can, but you give up all leverage to negotiate a better starting comp plan... and... yeah... don't.
Nothing wrong with starting your job search now. It may take some time to find the next role. Also - braintank is 100% right. Don't jump until you have the next role secured.
Might as well start looking now
Start working on the resume researching roles and save them on LinkedIn and when you’re ready go back and apply to all of them that are still available
Start looking at new roles now but don't leave without one lined up
Start now so you resume get traction.. get before leaving
just start looking and jump when you find a good gig.
