This was a great sale - not that it nets huge volume for my company or commission, but I was able to ACTUALLY PRACTICE WHAT I PREACH. What a time to be alive....
In the service industry, we're constantly reminding our prospects that they're not buying a product, they're buying a contractor. "Whether you work with me or someone else, make no mistake, you're buying me (or someone else) and not the window....."
Well, as a result, we also teach to "product drop" and never price drop. This particular client wanted wood interior, "clad" (think, low to no maintenance) exterior. This is the expensive variety. They couldn't swing it from us, but they did have a SERIOUS low ball offer from someone else that gave them the product they wanted, but I was certain they were not sold on the service. After a nice, lengthy convo yesterday in person, we dropped the product to a price point they could swing but had to make some sacrifices on aesthetic. Well, worked! They signed the contract this morning!
