Purely educational question

What do you think is an appropriate OTE (split and total OTE) for a first time SaaS sales manager responsible for all North American reps (8 account executives ranging from SMB to Enterprise) in a Series B startup with deal sizes ranging from $10k-$500k ARR.

Izzy—still not enough helpful details. We don’t know enough about your business to get specific.

I’d toss out 150k/65k ($215 OTE) for a manager with a 70/30 split. Adjust to 60/40 if you want and you’d be at 130k/87k for the same OTE but that feels like and ent rep.

Again, those numbers mean little to your business in a specific way.

I think 60/40 but that's also a wild ass guess on my part.

Need to know
- Quota
- Attainment
- Industry
- Are your AEs reponsible for self generating all of their leads or is there a BDR team?(I ask because usually self gen means more work for you to manage)
- Also what they are offering as a benchmark is helpful.

so many missing bits of info, but I guess a 50/50 split is a good place to start.  Most of my comp plans have historically been 50/50 or 60/40.

A comp plan should incentivize you to sell.  Base pay should be enough to get you by, but not enough to get you ahead (for the most part).  But length of sales cycle is very important here. If you can reasonably close in 1-3 months, then a lower base may be warranted. But if it takes a year or more to close a decent deal, than a higher base is important.

The post is about a sales manager running the entire sales org, not a rep.

It’s alO about straight up compensation. Same principles apply. Base pay depends on when commissions are coming in.

Have you already asked what their range is? Often you should be able to clarify by asking "how do you structure your compensation?" then you can get into % specifics.

ya I will echo the others here. I would need to know more details.

an appropriate split would be 60/40 base / variable.

what is the AVEAGE deal size?
What is the expectation for ARR at the end of the year?

Are you a player coach?

I’d reckon otherwise something like $120-200k + 5% of GP, but have no idea what the quotas are and what the location is
