SaaSguy closed a deal for $0 to the IT department

Not even sure if im allowed to post this... I closed a deal on an account I just took over, but according to the customer (they showed me the email in writing!!) our recently let go VP told him he would give him the tool free.

So I literally sent out an order form for 100% discount $0 for me to the customer.

Anyone run into this before? I was pretty shocked to find they were promised this and it would end up blowing up the account if not honored..
