Should Bravado go back to 100% anonymous?

when this started we were told that it was just a trial and if the feedback wasn't good they would get rid of the ability to post using real names and businesses.

I don't think I've seen a good quality post by someone using their real name, usually is self promoting junk written by ChatGPT or just nonsense. I only see commenting being done anonymously, so they're not bringing any value.

go back to 100% anon?

I think it may be a losing battle. We have fought and tried to make our case. Mine randomly reverts to my real name at times and it is upsetting because then I’ll comment a gem and have to remove it because of not wanting to dox myself.

Im not overly worried about that part, just getting tired of the self promotion posts. Almost all the good quality posts on here are by anon users

Yeah but I can see people wanting to use this to actually network. You have been posting great content and built a network of sales leaders here, wouldn’t it be nice to actually utilize this network for a career opportunity?

Yes the self promotion is annoying, so if they were to start a Reddit like policy, where you need to earn 50 points in commission to be able to post might be a way to weed out the bad posts. Saw this idea this week, might of been yours actually

Not mine but I like it. Or maybe a commission if a post gets -10! I like penalties 😈 I get wanting to network here because there are some very knowledgeable people, and I’ll admit that sometimes it’s hard to say what I want without exposing myself too much. Personally I find more value staying anonymous though.

If I really want to network with someone, they can DM me. If I'm feeling it, I might be up front about who I am. That said, I realize DMs are only available to iPhone users, but honestly, the online networking I've participated in has been largely through LI. Most of my valuable networking has been with people I've actually met and then we continue to stay in touch online.

Totally agree there better ways to network than having a public profile here, but if you were trying to land a role via Bravado Jobs for a fractional leader, posting best practices for leadership could help you land an interview.

What happened a couple months ago where the default for us was the public was not ok, but luckily they seemed to fix it

I get it. It’s just conflicting priorities for public vs anon on the boards, with public (mostly) seeming to think this is LinkedIn and anon carrying on with more real interactions that don’t have to play to a corporate audience. They’re at odds. It’s awkward.

They come, provide some obvious sales "learnings" and then leave. Anonymous posters bring real stories, real issues, and I'd like to think a real personality that's not too carefully curated so as to upset an employer.

I love the anonymity. I don’t think it will return.

I do wish we could fix the onslaught of complete SPAM posting. I don’t think we can fix the idiots that can’t figure out basic common sense rules of engagement for posting.

Yeah, the value in this for me was the anonymity.. If it went 100% public, I'd likely stop being an active user. But hey, was good while it lasted.

The default should be anonymous - some folks may not realize on their first post that they're blasting themselves out there especially if it's a hard hitting review or concern about their org.
The internet is forever.

JJ, I'm one those people that doesn't use what I like to call the alter ego function. Not that there is anything wrong with it, I just chose to ride the wave without it. I found Bravado in Sept and I think I used it maybe 3 times, but I don't see anything wrong with going 100% anonymous. It's a cool function.👍👍

If you were to use an alter ego, in what ways would your experience of using this platform change?
2

I don't think it would, I would still express myself in the same manner. So for me my experience would remain the same. I completely understand why others do it and totally respect that.

I appreciate that, and I think you’ve been good for not breaking the rules and self promoting or selling. One of the negatives that happens though is that people who know you personally (maybe work for/with you) are less likely to join, or they’ll be less open about experiences when they post.

If I had any suspicions that my manager was in here I would definitely be more guarded or possibly just stop posting altogether
2
Retired Sales Professional
Completely understand, that's why I'm 100% on board if Bravado ever decided to do away with full profile. You make the adjustment, the messages are the same.
