This is the "TLDR" version (Full version posted here: https://bravado.co/war-room/posts/price-rise-surreal-clusterfuck/)
Inbound enquiry in May 2022. I (dis)qualified hard - told the guy who contacted me that we are the most expensive in the market and I could give him the names of a couple of competitors if he wanted to ask for quotes elsewhere. I figured that because they are a massive multinational corporation the least they would do is ask for 3 quotes as standard practice.
He was adamant they weren't interested in taking chances. If they were to make a purchase, they wanted a solution known for quality. I agreed to have a call with all the stake-holders in early July. The 90 minute call started around 3am local time for me - this was part of the reason I disqualified hard!
The call went well, customer asked for 2 quotes because they weren't sure which spec they would opt for, and I was told they would have a decision in 2 weeks.
It only took them EIGHT MONTHS to get around to making the downpayment!
2023 is looking good :)
