*UPDATE* Didn't get the raise and now they're raising my quota. Time to go

Like the title says. In my previous post, I posted my achievement, my numbers and what I've done for the sales org. Spoke to my VP Sales and the answer was a flat no, with a 5% concession on my base. The justification? They'll be hiring more reps.

Looks like I'm going to be looking for a new job. Where do I start? I'll start look around Q1 at competitors and asking for a reference to speak to VPs and other reps. What else should I be doing in preparation of leaving and looking for another role?

Again, double check your contract language about working for a competitor before you try. Some companies have very strict rules about that. There are a ton of good interview prep threads in here, and when you do get the job there are also a shit ton of onboarding threads!

I don't think that'll be a problem since we poached 5 AEs from two direct competitors, but I'll review my contract.

I'm stressed the fuck out and they keep adding more and more numbers for me to hit, took away a portion of my November commission cuz they retroactively changed the qualifications post meeting and now they're upping my quota by 20%. Despite the holidays, they've upped my numbers and reduced the time to achieve them.

Fuck them and they're avocado toast eating asses. Sorry, rant over.

TBH most non-competes are unenforceable. Check local laws, but as long as you're not poaching clients or other staff you are generally good to go.

Sales is your profession and a company can't prevent you from earning a living in an area you are experienced just to protect their bottom line.

Start looking now. Everyone will wait for Q1. Stand out. Also check your non compete.

Check out the War Room Jobs section. Been hearing some good stuff about the opportunities people are finding there.

Also you should have a good talk track around your reason for leaving. new companies probably wont like to hear that you quit because you didnt get a raise.

so have a good story of other issues.

I would not wait. Same rule as prospecting. the best time to look is always "yesterday, but now is 2nd best". Companies are still moving to hire AE's even in the 2nd half of december.

In the new years there will be a flood of companies looking to hire. Q4 is usually dry to look for jobs. Best of luck man

Yeah, I somewhat resolved it. Spoke to my svp and he said I'm on track to become an AE next year. I held him to his word(need it in writing though) and said I want a timeline. He said likely Q2. The reason I'm apprehensive to leave is cuz I'm crushing it and if I can get closing experience, I'm super down for that. If I jump ship, that's not a guarantee, but I've already been involved in the full sales cycle by shadowing AEs and demoing which my svp said he was impressed by.

I think you have the data to back it up which is a good start. Does your company have a particular promotion schedule? Some companies only look at this stuff quarterly for example, might be helpful to check that.
