From the outside you'd assume larger companies really have their shit together compared to more start-up sized places. Truth is, no one has their shit together its all just what you are okay with tolerating company to company

I think not really the size of the company, but how often they buy software. 

groups I sell to may have only purchased 1 or 2 enterpsie wide solutions so noone knows what the fuck they are doing, or who is responsible for what, or if this person has the authority to do anything. 

its a fucking nightmare....but if you can help navigate through it you look like a hero (or at least get a sale)

Yes!   So many of them have no idea about software procurement, and you end up with documents that are related to furniture or something.   

It's best when you get those in relation to RFPs, where they ask about your pricing methodology in a completely irrelevant format.

I used to sell to the federal government. Nothing gets as messy and convoluted as their procurement processes. I'll take the commercial world over that any day.

They already signed. We are still dealing with procurement because they are wear the project management hat for the initial launch. It’s awful.
