What companies are open to hiring an external BDR as an AE?

Currently exceeding quota, and have been a BDR for a year. I was previously an AE in a different industry (made significantly less money than I do now, so made the switch), and looking to get back to that in SaaS. Current company saying all the right things about me moving up, but there's nothing set and I don't want to wait around and hope. Trying to find an organization, make a move now.

hard to say what companies are or are not. But here is what I would do:

1. on your resume make it known you are an SDR looking to get into an AE role.
2. explain your stats as an SDR
3. explain the skills you have that make you ready for an AE role.
4. when a recruiter asks you about it, let them know you are set for a promotion at your current company but you dont believe its the right place

I was hired - external BDR as an AE. I didn’t have prior AE experience. But you do. So I’m sure there’s a lot of market scope available for you to explore. :)

Definitely possible. And if you do can an AE offer, possible to leverage with current company to get moved up quicker

With previous AE experience I would say it’s 100% possible. Going to be slightly more difficult and interviews will have a big focus on the role play, but for sure possible

Possible but not every company will. You'll have to put yourself out there but you'll be able to make it happen with enough outreach.
