What is dumbest thing you've done to disqualify yourself in the interview process?

I went through their hiring process (5 steps) after being contacted by their internal recruiter. I went all out in my pre final interview research. Reached out to a few former reps to learn more about the company and role, was more prepared than I ever have been for an interview.

I CRUSHED the interview. At the end, both VP and director were blown away and I had to await a final "culture fit" meeting with CEO before receiving official offer.

3 days later received the automated reject email so I followed up with Recruiter to find out why. Director replied back and gave me time on phone to explain that it came down to me and one other candidate and the deciding factor was me not sending a follow up "thank you for the interview" summary style email. That was it. A simple fucking email and I would be making almost 2x what I make now.

I was interviewing for an AE role about 5 years ago and like I always do with position I really want I put together a 30/60/90 which includes an overview of my sales process...

Well...

In the presentation I had writing something about being able to identify โ€œred flagsโ€ from a prospect during the sale process... Unfortunately, there was a pretty bad typo.... I somehow overlooked that I had left out the โ€œLโ€ in the word flags...

I walk out of that interview mortified and writing off any shot at getting the position. ย But I must have recovered we'll because I got the job.

That's tough!ย  Did they call you out during the interview?ย  I'm also curious about what a 30/60/90 would look like within an interview for an AE.

I was interviewing for a role in TN. The previous rep had lived in FL. They asked if I would relocate, and I said it depended on my husband's job search as to if/when we'd move. My lack of enthusiasm for moving became their deciding factor.

That's ridiculous. What if something had happened to you or a family member...
