Where is the line between constructive follow up vs coming off as desperate?

Happy Friday savages!ย

I had a role play and interview with a HM and Sr AE for an AE opening this past Monday. They said they're in the middle of the process still interviewing candidates but that this week is their SKO and would likely make a decision by next week..

My question is, is it safe to follow up today along the lines of "HM, Happy Friday! how was the sales kickoff this week? I understand you're still interviewing candidates but wanted to reinforce my continued interest in the AE role at XYZ...blah blah"

Or would it be overstepping and I should wait until Monday to follow up?

It's a small Saas company but I like their offering and narket positioning. I'm confident I could make it rain ๐Ÿค‘

UPDATE:
I decided to wait until today 1/29. Mainly because inaddition to their SKO, I imagine he had a mountain of emails to get through after that week. I left him a voicemail and sent him an email about 10 minutes ago stating my interest and the impact I would have on the company'sgrowth.

Really ๐Ÿ‘€ Ive never called a HM. You donโ€™t think that can be overkill considering the timeline they shared? I am thinking this is a good differentiator since my background is AM, and the position is AE so it can show my persistenceโ€ฆ

Donโ€™t overthink it. Youโ€™re fine. Eager, interested, does not always equal desperate.

Thereโ€™s a pretty big difference between the two. And youโ€™d be confident if you were coming off desperate, because youโ€™d know that youโ€™re desperate.

Anything else is just showing initiative and showing that youโ€™re eager to take down this opp (obv. Make sure you do so with tact, donโ€™t make an asshole of yourself)

Anything less that a restraining order and you're not trying hard enough!

But seriously, listen to the Savages here and get after it.

My 2 cents... Wait till after the SKO. Nothing is going to happen the Friday after an SKO and no one wants to think about work.

I would send an email on Monday along the lines of "I hope the SKO went off without a hitch... I wanted to add <x> to our conversation and let you know that I remain interested...". It shows you know how to do follow up on sales oppts but aren't pushy or desperate.

Thank you, that was my thought process as well. I think the fastest way to lose an opportunity is to be too aggressive, even though you need to be that way sometimes when you are closing deals. Then again, I feel like job searching is even more sensitive than selling to prospects ๐Ÿ˜

Nothing wrong with showing your interest. Curious if you ended up reaching out to them on Friday?

At the very least email them to show you want the role, call out you know it is their SKO but you wouldn't be doing the job of sales if you didn't show you want to get something.

What's your reply for the prospects, who want free advice and make you do lot of documentation, which eventually results into ghosting ?
