Your funniest cold call memory?

I love hearing funny cold call stories, we've all been there.. Whether you botched it on your end or the prospect told you to kick rocks in colorful language, I want to hear what everyones top memory is that had you laughing, crying or face palming as you hung up the phone...

I'll start- I once came in early on a Monday morning and made my first call of the day, when the prospect answered I quickly said Happy Friday John! and immediately felt about 16 confused eye balls shoot over at me from all across the sales the floor.. with a bright red face I recovered slightly by making a joke about my wishful thinking towards the weekend.

Unfortunately I did not book the meeting.

Cold called a restaurant owner in my first gig. He asked where our office was, I figured he wanted to stop by. I told him where we were, he said after work he was going to walk over and kick my ass if I kept calling.

Not a cold call, but got called a lot of words after sending a LinkedIn Message through Sales Nav to a Director of IT.

Worst part was, I thought it was a killer message and spent time tailoring it.

Not funny but guy was in the hospital with broken leg and worried about his son who was an idiot and he could not leave the family business to him and 6 months later with constant calls they bought in and are now living happily ever after and the son is managing the business

Cold a guy in Kuwait, heard my pitch and said "I`m not really interested but let me pass the phone to my colleague, he might be interested.

Talked to this other guy too, he says "I`m not interested" and they both laugh super hard, I found it kinda funny too lol

I remember using this tool called Orum where it would call 10 people at once. It was hard to keep track of everyone but it made cold calling fun for a few hours. Surprisingly I was not nonstop talking either.

I cold-called into an account and introduced myself and the comp I was with, "X from Y and we are a Z". He was really nice, and then he asked me, "I am looking for stuff, do you have any crack you can sell me?" It was hard to stay serious, I broke up laughing, and thinking "you got me".

I always wanted to call him back just for fun, but regret never cold-calling him again.
