The company was up for renewal but wanted a multi year contract with built in growth. At my company, we cannot build in growth w/o them paying for the licenses all upfront, so it took a lot of negotiation to find the right price for them. In the end, they bought 3k more licenses than they needed in year 1, but they got a great price per user. Investors were also involved in the decision so there was a lot of back and forth to find the right price.
