As in all things sales, even during interviews you will get lied to

Funny story....

Interviewed with a company, had a direct comversation with the hiring manager (3rd meeting) who answered my direct question of moving to the next interview with a yes. But it was all bs. No call back, no responses to me, just the automated email for a role I was not interviewing for.

Now, I am being reached out to by that same company, cough, Johnson Controls for a different role. Clearly, I don't think it's going to work out....

As with all things sales, people will flat out lie to you rather than enter a potential conflict. Always do yourself a favor and probe deeply in to any discussions with another person about anything. Why is the answer yes? Why choose us? What is your implementation date? Why not move forward now, what changes during x month? List could go on for some time....

If that is how they treat people being interviewed - imagine how they treat their staff...ย

You said it.

I just turned down an offer because they took forever to get back to me and then wanted me to breach my notice clause with my current employer so they can hit a targeted onboarding date.

If that's how they treat a potential new hire then there are probably a lot more issues you can't see.

Agreed. It really do reflect if they see you as a person - or just a number, that can better their statistics.

Ugh. Those kind of people suck.

This was for a VP role too, a major red flag that they were half-assing it.

Or, the HM wanted to move you forward, but HR dropped you in the process. It's not always a lie, but often times we have "HR business partners" that like to fuck around with our candidate pool in order to favor certain folks.

One of the things I alwayssss forgot when interviewing was that I should also be interviewing them in a way to see if it's a company I would want to be at. In this case, I'd say it's a hard no

In a company the size of JC, it's possible that the new HM has zero idea what happened with the previous HM.ย  ย Some are far better than others at communicating, and the same goes for the various HR partners.ย  Not sure I'd go for this new role (once bitten and all that), but it's something to consider if the role and company are interesting.
