How do land an AE position?!

Any advice on becoming an AE? I have around 5 years of sales experience but I took 2 years off when I moved to Texas. I'm currently an electrician but want to get back into sales as my long term career.

Is there a way for you to spin your years as an electrician into sales? Like we’re you booking your own clients/negotiating rates?

Start applying and interviewing for jobs. You were/are employed so I don't think it will be a problem.

@coors unfortunately no. I’m a union electrician and have always worked for a large company.

Just apply and act like the different job is nothing to think twice about. Sounds like you’re getting in your own head.
Just interview at small mid sized companies. Not the big beasts that will be picky.

yeah especially now a days with COVID, i dont think anyone will blame you for a gap in your sales career especially since you have been employed.

What was your sales experience before being an electrician?
What type of companies do you want to work for?

Maybe brush up on some sales knowledge but honestly the best thing to do is start applying and show you're willing to work hard by contacting the hiring managers directly.
