Best Account Manager/AE jobs with no travel

Hi all,

I'm in the minority with travel post COVID; i really hate work travel and do not like it. at all.

I'm currently in the middle of transitioning to a key accounts/mid market account manager role at my company. In the future, I would like to take on an AM role, but not really travel at all, if at all.

What sort of companies or roles should I go for?

I think it really depends on the culture, I have been on teams where field reps traveled once and another traveled every week. Some companies if you are hitting your number they donโ€™t care

Look at companies known to have strong inside sales teams. You can search Glassdoor and job boards for companies with job postings for Inside Sales Reps.

it honestly made no difference at any point whether I was in person or on zoom. I found it never really mattered

I just interviewed for a supposed AE role. It turned out to be strictly inside sales, and you could travel โ€œif you wanted to,โ€ but most didnโ€™t. Personally, I want to travel again now, so it wasnโ€™t right for me.
I guess the takeaway is that titles donโ€™t always tell you much, things have changed.

Travel will become more and more antiquated. Boomers will keep it alive for a little while longer but when you look at how effective you can be as a company while spending a fraction of the cost, companies will pay attention. Especially during this downturn.

The problem is the money is in the field. Most inside gigs wonโ€™t pay more than $85K base. Get as much guaranteed as you can as the variable OTE may never be realized.

As long as you enjoy delivering minimal value and selling stuff over a phone without ever getting to know anyone or their business, this sounds like a great career path.

You probably shouldnโ€™t be in sales โ€” youโ€™ve set a ceiling to your career by u willingness to visit customers. Itโ€™s Boiler Room for life for you.

Really not a good comment. Incredibly shortsighted and ignorant to the truth. No wonder people are down voting it

As someone who has over a decade of experience in enterprise sales, I think itโ€™s ignorant to think you can be an account manager and develop relationships with your customer virtually.

Just because you donโ€™t like what Iโ€™m saying doesnโ€™t make it true.
