Closed a $60k deal after my manager said we’ve lost this after the two people I was speaking to didn’t feel like introducing us to the CEO until they figured out some technical aspects. It felt so good.

I literally wasn't shouting this deal in my committ because if I did, my manager would ask have we spoken to the CEO yet? or why aren't they "allowing" you to speak to the CEO. i know it's super important to have access to power but sometimes you just got to play along especially if the guys who are running the project are super legit. thoughts?

Blow it up
CEOs are busy, but they are not the only people who can approve large costs, and meeting them isn't needed if they approved internally.

Good job on keeping this alive and closing what others thought not possible.

Keep it up and people will start bringing you their 75% deals which often end up being easy closes after building a good relationship.

Exactly what I thought. And I don’t want to be super pushy towards the person I built a good relationship with in the company. Makes it feel like I don’t trust they have enough power themselves. Thanks 💯

Sometimes the exception proves the rule.  By which I mean, your contacts clearly did know what they wanted and were in a position to get the deal done.  Often times, those contacts simply don't have the kind of power you need, and you'll spend cycles and waste time with the non-decision makers.   Hence your manager asking you to to get to the top.

Honestly, I wouldn't have committed the deal either until I was comfortable with the level I was at and could explain the customer's buying process to my manager.  Sometimes deals come in quickly and surprise everyone, which is a bonus.   Congratulations.

Yes, totally. How do you handle non-decision makers not giving you access to one? But they’re super engaged?
