Commission %

I recently got my comp plan and it seems that I'm getting shafted. I am in the software/SaaS space, quota is around $1M and deal sizes can range anywhere from $15k to $60k+. Curious to hear what commission % others are getting paid that are in a similar industry.

10-15% for me. But it entirely depends on what your OTE is. Your commish % * quota will never be greater than your OTE. Typically roles with higher volume have a smaller % per deal, roles with 1-5 deals making up quota have a higher %

I work where it’s not a % of the value of the deals, it’s really a bonus based on % of quota attained. I’m a manager, not IC. I’d never work for this plan as IC.
It’s like Matthew McConaughey in Dazed & Confused. Quota keeps going up, but the OTE just stays the same.

The % will depend on your OTE and your quota, so it will vary, depending mostly on those two factors.   Mine is 12%.

8-24% based on my attainment. increased every 25% of annual attainment +accelerator for anything beyond 100% as we're uncapped.

Similar feelings. Same quota as you. My OTE works out at 2% commish. 🤮

Starts at 10% of ARR, and my experience in SaaS has said that's the average. Depends on the deal velocity, selling effort, etc. 

Typical SaaS structure is 50/50 for AEs. 100k base, 100k commission (10% on 1M quota) for 200k OTE. That's at least a good baseline to work off of. Changes up or down based on organization.
