Companies that hire 'LinkedIn Influencers'

I noticed that at some companies that sell to sales people (like Outreach and Gong) their SDRs are kind of 'LinkedIn Influencers'. Like they share their 'days in the life' of sales reps and post all the time.

Do these companies train hire people with big LinkedIn followings or do they train them on creating content or something?

I mean, we all seem to know the names of these companies - so the strategy works to get brand recognition.

Does it have staying power? That's the real question.

I thought those companies pushed for them to post on LinkedIn. I've seen quite a few conversations about it ๐Ÿค”

My company asks that we share. Some of us are more consistent at it than others, but I will occasionally post good news that will benefit my role.

It's interesting though, b/c ofc I've seen companies ask that I share latest blog post or whatever, but these SDRs aren't just re-sharing marketing materials, they're storytelling about 'a day in the life as an sdr' and stuff

There are a couple of ways to do it, and Iโ€™ve seen it all. Do you want eyeballs? Do you want education? Is it just an announcement to nurture? You pick what you are looking for and then apply the formula for the type of content.

Usually for eyeballs, but they know it is only top of funnel at best.

โœ… Itโ€™s marketing. Holds just slightly less value than a cold voicemail.

In most cases, agreed. Newer targets donโ€™t seem to check voicemail.

I believe just cuz they're big companies they just hire big names, to make their sales reps more trust-worthy to their other fellow reps at the other companies.
And I believe also that they hire people who already have an already active and noticed LI presence with lots of followers, to promote them and use em as a good company image being influencers!

Not sure about the hiring strategy but it works lol.
All these posts have so many reactions and share.

They highly encourage those reps to link, share, subscribe, like, post, mix the koolaid, drink the koolaid, etc and new reps see the older reps doing it and getting promoted, so they think the best way to get promoted themselves is to the above.

Itโ€™s a vicious cycle which we need to break! Down with Gong! Kill the heathens! Downvote them into the abyss where the likes of Google+ and other failed ventures reside!

I'd love to know the results of the impact on revenue from doing this. If it works I'd be surprised but hey they seem to be deep in it

I think it's just a tool called Sprout Social and then everyone shares them in the organization. Or they are desperate for a promotion. Seems common in my feed anyway
