Day 4 of trying to get into sales ( interview )

Got a call at 12

Picked it

They said we are interested in your qualifications come visit us

I went to interview at reem island for the job of telesales,

Telesales for a visa company

They provide visa and work permit stuff like that

Anyways they make me wait for 2 hours and the hr doesn't show up , then in the office they give me a laptop and put a zoom meeting for me , bros camera was also off ( the interviewer ) asked me tell me about urself

I spoke very well, tells me to speak in Hindi ( my mother tongue ) I'm like sure and I continue , since I had already talked about myself in English I told him about my sports achievements in school

Says we ain't hiring for sports tell me ur sales experience

I told him I don't have any but I do have experience of convincing people which is basically sales which I do everyday

.... Well I couldn't convince him to hire me

Bro was looking for experienced candidates for an entry level positions

Salary was like 900$ p/m

...

...

I really need an internship there's no other way for me ig

There are jobs in Dubai, many ,

But I live in Abu Dhabi , so ig I should search for an online internship ig ppl call it remote work

That's my plan for tomorrow

It was an office in a commercial building , many people in their expensive 911s and m5s

But going back home I saw the frowned faces of the 9-5 workers... What is life

Beaker, look, you're not trying to break into sales. You're trying to break into the workforce. And you're all over the map. Degree? Masters at 18? Another country? Sales job? Any job? Miserable 911 and M5 drivers? What is life?
Of course you need sales experience to get a sales job.

This is generally an advice forum, so you're getting some right now. You seem to like having multiple simultaneous thoughts. So, here's a list of what should be your priorities, in order of importance.

#1 Decide where you want to live.
#1 Go there and get an education
#1 After you've gotten your education, get a miserable 9-5 job.
#1 Figure out what you have to do to be miserable in a 911 or M5
#1 Do that for as long as it takes to get it

You can always refer back to this list and start at step #1.
Try to be a happy guy. Easy, right?

Hm...okay so I can't decide and go wherever I wanna, cuz parents won't let me , step 1 out
Step 2 yes I'm already studying bachelors in business administration, it will take 3 years to complete uni so in the meantime I gotta get experienceStep 2 out

My main question is... How do I get a miserable 9-5 , I need experience, from internships, but there aren't any internships in my area ... I sound negative but im gonna work hard and find one and actually gain some experience
Thank you sir .๐Ÿฅฒ

You're acting like you will burst into flames if you don't have a career by end of day. Slow down. Breathe.

Stop. Pretending. You. Have. Experience.

School means nothing in the real world. Sports mean nothing in the real world. You lack maturity, context, and sense. I wouldnโ€™t hire you either.

Step back. Find an internship, and learn what you need to learn before you graduate from your university.

Harsh...but trueI do not have any experience
Getting an internship is really hard , much worse than a normal jobBut I'll try my best and get into one
@Sunnybunny11 told me not to work for free , so those words are also in the back of my head ..

@Sunbunny31 is the proper tag, not 11. She's right. you shouldn't work for free. You should intern for experience.

Yes sorry got the tag wrong , thing is... All internships are unpaid in my area .

An honest internship set up (often through your university) provides training experience and often does not pay.
You were talking about going around asking to work for free "to get experience", which is exactly how you set yourself up to be exploited.
I suggested that you go through your university to apply for and obtain internships. Yes, they are hard to get. Why? Because they take effort on the part of the hiring company to train people.
It looks like you're finding that just going out and applying and fudging your experience is also not working, so maybe apply yourself to some hard work where it will actually benefit you.
If you need $$, go find a regular job for people your age who are in school so you can earn some $$ and get some general work experience. Not sure what general part time jobs are available in your area, but you could start there.
Otherwise, your time spent here on a sales forum geared toward advice for practicing sales reps in another geographic area is time wasted. You're not going to get the practical advice you need from us. You need to get that from people in your area who work in the kind of career you want to pursue. And if you're currently pursuing your bachelor's in business - you're setting yourself up to get to those internships. Talk to your teachers and your college administration. NETWORK THERE. That's how you get that experience you're chasing.

Critical feedback is often required.

Great advice , I'll start there , I don't think so my bachelor's uni will provide it but I'll ask them and we'll see , thank you for putting so much effort into talking to me and replying to me , it means a lot .Also some universities make students do volunteering work and call it internship , the volunteering work doesn't pay and doesn't reach anything rather than just communications , what is your opinion on that , in my area the most common jobs which SOME of my colleagues get is work in events like f1 UFC tennis world cup etcIt's very tough But I'll make network inside the event organisations to get in, also please give advice on how to network , I smile and I talk and that's it , it often seems to the other person that I want something from them .

Sales starts when you stop trying to sell. Convincing people is 5% of the sales process.

Look, your best course of action is to leverage the resources you have right there at your university. You're paying them to educate you, and they should have resources to help you with many of the questions you're asking a bunch of strangers halfway across the globe. You've got to learn to take advantage of what you have at hand and not just go about randomly trying to accomplish something with no real plan.
If you have advisors, those are the people to talk to. Tell them what you're trying to do and ask them what they have to offer, or how they suggest you both prepare for a position, or acquire one. Right now, you're all over the place and you're not using any of the guidance you probably have right at your fingertips.
There's nothing wrong with volunteering to get experience. Again, my comment about not working for free had to do with randomly offering to work for free at some establishment to get experience. Volunteering at an event that is run largely by volunteer efforts is very different.

Well, ainโ€™t this just one counterintuitive crazy ass idea.
Might have just essploded the dudeโ€™s perception of what sales actually is.

Provide value - fantastic advice by @oldcloser

You come across as very entitled - thereโ€™s people with 10-15 years experience who are struggling to get junior roles because of the market

Relax

Provide some value

Im a former athlete myself and think some people think its an attribute and some won't care. When talking about sports achievements, talk about how they will relate to the job and how they will make you a better employee. Time manegement, dedication, etc
