Do your AEs do cold outreach?

Prospecting might be the hardest part of the sales cycle and yet we want to pawn this responsibility off to SDRs, BDRs, and whatever else we call them because...well it's really freaking hard!


But what I've found is that sales orgs who have their Account Executives dedicating at least an hour a day or a few hours a week to prospecting and cold outreach are the most successful orgs because it keeps those skills sharp and gives the AEs more motivation to close deals since they're doing the sourcing themselves.

The good ones do. Control what you can! Maybe involve an SDR to nurture and throw em a qualified opp or two. If they are juggling a few AEs, make sure they like you the best.

Typically I choose my top accounts and go after them myself, especially with exec level titles, and get my sdr to reach out to other accounts or sometimes to my top accounts but manager titles or individual contributorsย

An AE who doesnโ€™t prospect will have their prospecting skills dull. And if you make a move youโ€™re gonna be trying much harder to sharpen their outreach.
