Leadership VS SDRs - Cold calling

So I used to be an SDR. And not a terrible one if I may say so myself. It's been a while since I made the move to a more leadership orientated position but I still love to get my hands dirty and do some prospecting.

I do it daily (keepin' the hustle alive, baby!)

Every once in a while I clear my schedule for the day and go head to head with my SDR Team.

100 cold calls - most meetings booked wins.

They regularly wipe the floor with me.. But I love it! (guess the student sometimes have to become the teacher)

We all learn and it's fun. Also it's a great impulse for when the number of meetings booked is going down.

What do you think? Can you take your manager in a cold call face off?

Would you smoke your management cold calling?

I like the poll, but I know far too many managers that view themselves as too good to be in the trenches anymore.Β

Second that. I’ve seen it and that needs to change.. I’ve had to teach myself to get on the phone as my manager wouldn’t even set the exampleΒ

I could compete because I'm good at cold calling, but my manager much more experience and is definitely not afraid of the phone so he might beat me. It wouldn't be a straight up ass whooping tho.

I could call for fun sometimes even though my role doesn’t require it since I have a team of BDRs supporting me...

Feel like your mindset is wrong here.. You should always be prospecting yourself too. Not β€œfor fun”. The best AE’s I’ve worked with always have their own things cooking.

100%.Β

just given my solution set and sales cycle, most of my prospecting happens via networks I maintain.

in my previous post I was referring to literally picking up the phone and hammering 50-70 dials from a list.
