Enterprise SaaS Comp

I've read Repvue and a couple other sites and was curious what the "lowest" OTE would be for an Ent AE role at public SaaS company.  I feel like the company is lowballing me ( anywhere from $25-50k lower than external new hires) because I'm an existing employee.  Any advice on how to obtain a market rate package when internally promoted??

Your best bet is to find another role at a different company. Your current one doesn't value you enough.

Internal promotions always get shafted. I made 30% more than some internal promotions doing the same role at my old company. That being said, the reason they do that is because they know it’s much harder to score a promotion as an external hire. You could push back with current market rates and negotiate up a bit, but my recommendation would be to bag the promotion, get 6-12 months experience in the role, then jump ship.

Fuck a company that doesn’t treat loyalty as a reason to pay someone the same as a fresh hire.

Bizarre. You're a known entity and they are lowballing you? WTF? Did you get any insights on why?

I would find another one if I am not in deep love with my company

This is why I don’t think there’s any reward for loyalty. Talk to AEs in your company and see if they’ll share comp info with you

This is all great feedback. I’m pretty savvy and understand the market and what I’m worth. @TheRealVladimirPutin - this was the same advice I actually received from a person in this role. It’s almost like why take the role and being underpaid instead of applying for a new one… little worried about the upcoming recession and starting a new gig / selling a new product that’s not “recession proof “

I think that there will be a lot of tech that is going to do really well though regardless of market conditions, specifically climate tech

I’m aware of the comp bands . I would say most large tech companies operate in the same fashion. They only pay market rates to new hires to recruit them. It’s always 10-20% lower than market for internals but I feel the market has shifted which is in the AE’s favor. However I don’t know if the company cares enough since there’s probably somebody behind me that will take that role at a lower OTE.
