Free website. What’s the catch?

Outreach from LinkedIn. The company I work for already has a proper website but I’m thinking, hey, if they want to build a sales consulting website for me, great.

But what’s the angle here? I have to imagine there’s no shortage of people wanting something for nothing. Could this be a potential phishing scam or something like that?

I’m guessing whatever they produce will likely be somewhat shit anyways. You get what you pay for, right?

They build it for you then charge you for hosting to continue it

It’s the strategy of a lot of digital marketers bc if they build it for free a lot of people will just pay the hosting bc they see how good their website looks vs trying go out and pay for someone else to do it

Spam, or they are making money by selling advertising on the website they create for you , or by selling the data they gather through website usage, I’m sure all hidden in a contract with fine print.

Nothing is free, I am sure there is an unknown (right now) catch.

first one free the next ones gonna cost you... website hosting, updates to the site and such are likely to be charged

Websites free, Hosting and modifications are not. Effectively it's a subscription product if you want it they'll give you a static version of a "finished product" but websites are living entities that need updating, changes etc so theirs a continuity aspect built in.

I think software has just gotten so cheap to build because of GPT. If you have a template already and chatGPT it's not very hard to pop out websites. Good business strategy honestly. The freemium model!

Hi, it could be phishing but you can perform a google investigation of their company and visit their site. 2nd because competition of new software development companies many are trying to hook you into the idea that you will get a free site and then upsell you with important compliments. 3rd if they have built over 10,000+ high chance they are using some sort of AI that can do it a fairly cheap cost for them and only change and improve things once you start paying them for their actual services. (This is just my opinion). Hope this helps. wish you the best for this year!
