Growth AE @ Twilio Segment?

Hi all – I was recently approached to interview for a Growth AE role at Twilio, specifically for Segment. Anyone else work there that can comment on the sales org and how they like the company/position overall? Thanks in advance!

They reached out to me well before the tech squeeze / layoffs started happening and completely ghosted me during the interview process. This may have been early 2022 or late 2021…

Was basically told to expect next steps and never heard from them again. I even reached out to ask what was happening and total silence…

A year later, i got an automated email asking me how the interview process was, haha.

Even if my recruiter did get laid off, still kind of strange. It’s not like you would dump all the leads in your system from a BDR because they got terminated.

I don’t know the first freaking thing about Twilio culture. But that they’re recruiting is a good sign. Good luck.

They’re CPaaS, so going to compete with Amazon Connect most likely, which isn’t great, but not the end of the world. It’s a good way to get your foot in the door, but there are other vendors in that space I’d rather work for.

If the comp is right, go for it.

I personally know 2 people who we're affected by the layoffs in Twillio, they axed most of APAC. They we're good people. I know it was the economy but it left a bad taste after seeing what they did to my friends.

One was an SDR manager, one was an AE, mutual friends from the professional services team too
