Healthy Food On The Road

While COVID certainly made traveling less frequent, it is still a part of my weekly routine when going to see customers. One thing I've always found difficult is packing a tasty and healthy lunch that you can eat on the go. What are some ways you guys have managed to keep the diet clean when you have a long day of windshield time?

Yes packing food from home really helps. One good thing Covid has done for me is cut off the intake of fast food. Now, I'm motivated to keep it going even after covid

I try my best to pack healthy snacks and pack a good lunch but it's tough to find things that keep well in a car for 4-5 hours. Fast food is a killer for me. lol

I feel you. Sandwiches and salads only seem to have a long life

Started skipping lunch completely and doing protein/meal replacement shakes and some fruit. Why eat 33% of my calories and 2000% of sodium intake at lunch, save that shit for dinner lol

I was doing something similar for lunches for a couple of weeks but I would find myself so dang hungry. I've been trying to keep healthy snacks and plenty of protein bars in the car.ย

yeah man, the uncomortable hanger wears off after a few weeks, at least it did for me,. now on weekends when we actually eat lunch i dont want dinner lol, try intermittent fasting too. 16 hours a day fast, for example i dont eat after 6pm and dont eat before 10am (16 hours) then you can eat for the 8 hour window, my first meal is relatively large at 10 am but then im not hungry for lunch and can make healthy snacks until dinner

Meal prepping for the week is huge. Along with packing snacks that fit whatever type of diet you are using. A gallon of water goes a long way too for fighting snack cravings on the road.

What's your go-to on meal prepping? You make several different meals on Sunday or do you keep the lunches consistent?ย

ย Normally i make it all on Sunday. I have a consistent plan of something like meat and rice and some veggies. Doesnโ€™t take long to make and itโ€™s Easy to warm up at a gas stations. Plus I can bring some tortillas along if I want a wrap.

Lost 40lbs while traveling weekly a few years back. Went full No Sugar No Grain or Keto. Found it super easy avoid sugar and carbs even going through a drive through. Started intermittent fasting as well (skipped breakfast)

I also requested water on the plane instead of Coke Zero and passed on the snacks

I love meal prepping for lunch for the week each Sunday and find it super easy and helps me eat healthy. For snacks I like making my own trail mix of nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and dark chocolate chunks. Fruit is always good and can be something sweet if you have that craving. I also like popcorn so you can eat a good amount for low calories and relatively healthy. Cutting up veggies is also a great snack to pack. To help me not over eat put all my food into snack baggies.ย
