Hiring Seasons in Saas?

First year in Saas. Trying to get promoted or find an AE/AM position as fast as possible. I know a lot of companies put up static job postings that stay all year round, but are there actual seasons for hiring? I'm getting the sense that my company's seasons are April and September.

Before I waste my time applying for new positions over the next few weeks, can anyone challenge or validate this?

As I understand it (and I don't work in HR or staffing or anything like that) hiring tends to quiet down right around July 4th and pick back up late August/early September. Then die down again after Halloween until mid January.

Doesn't mean no one is hired in the down times, it's just general trends.

Hiring can be at its low/high but it happens throughout. A couple of my colleagues just joined another company. If you are seriously looking for another role, you have to apply.

If you're detecting a hiring trend at your org, it's common for many to get optimistic around the summer and holiday retail trends. Mid Q2 Kids out of school and mid Q3 pre-Christmas can cause this. Otherwise, I'm not aware of any data that says SaaS orgs have a seasonal hiring trend.

Edit: I could be wrong. Sue me.

To be honest, I've never looked at or seen any data on this either. I think the conventional wisdom is that the summer and winter holiday season is when you have a lot of people on vacation or otherwise out of the office, which makes hiring a lower priority for a lot of orgs.

Not sure if that's just bro science, or actually a real thing.

I'm going with educated and informed bro science.

To make sure I understand your situation: you're currently an SDR in your first year of selling, and are looking for a role as a closer ASAP.
Is there a reason you're not looking where you are working today?
And to answer your question: no, no real hiring "season" that I am aware of, other than right now is tough due to the past 1+ year of layoffs and cutbacks that mean that there have been a lot of reps out there looking for work. It may be that things in general are loosening up a bit, but whether or not that is true remains to be seen.

I am working my way up here, but they are not hiring for months. Also, the message is “do great in your role and we’ll consider” but I’m in a role with no management, direction, or leads. Feels like a dead end.

This is the most accurate meme I’ve seen today. Nothing you can really do.

Right now it’s all a shit storm. Likely to change in a few weeks though. End of August beginning of September most orgs look to re-up their sales teams for the next year.

Seems pretty fluid with the market. I wouldn't get your hopes up in today's market to find an AE/AM role coming from SDR background.

I have 7 years of call center experience. It boggles my mind that it means nothing in saas. Willing to admit I’m not the strongest at marketing myself

Summer is generally slower, post your progress though I'm in a similar situation.

Will do. I’m currently working through repvue and getting at least a quick response yes/ no. Got one offer for a screening call

I have definitely seen an uptick in companies getting back to me to set screens or at least reject my application. Some companies I think are starting to slowly hire/back fill all the fat they trimmed.

Summer and winter holidays are historically slower. However, follow the company. If they just raised that's prime time.
