Holiday Vacation

How many days off do you usually take around the holidays (Christmas-New Years)?

Or do you just get given a bunch of days off by your amazing and empathetic company (I do not)

PS I get Christmas and New Years day off only and am determining how many more to take off

One of my old companies shut down from the 23-2nd which was phenomenal.

Planning on using the last of my holiday on a week off over christmas/new years.

Nothing of note ever happens then anyway.

I don't like working between Christmas and New Years. Not much happens and it's a waste.

I've been at companies that close that week, which is awesome, and one that was closed but they were essentially mandatory vacation days, which is a crock in my opinion.

Relevant poll!

I agree. I have worked at places that shut down, but currently working at a place with basically just Christmas and New Years day off...which puts a sizable wrench in my usual holiday plans

Thankfully in Canada we have a stat holiday for the 25th and 26th, in addition to Jan. 1

Makes it a lot easier, and when they fall on a weekend we all get the following weekday(s) off.

Typically take the time between Christmas and New Years off due to a lack of people either in the office or in the office but giving Zero Fucks about wanting to discuss business.

My company always needs people to answer phones so for past years it's a weird mix of who gets what days.
It's whatever.

Depending on when the days fall we get from Christmas Eve to New Years Day off, sometimes we work a couple days in-between.

Around the Christmas Holiday I "take off" the days between Christmas Eve and New Years officially. Unofficially, I am available for deals and questions, but on my own time.

It depends if your Q4 is calendar year. If it's not, take all the time you want.

I have the time. It's my fault that I don't take it.

I'll take the odd extra weekend day here or there, but I have a family and we need at least one big blocked out vacation a year, of at least a week.

Our company moved our fiscal year Feb to Feb so they could give us the week of Christmas off as an entire company. You guessed it, I work for a startup

I used to work at an agency and we'd close from Christmas Eve until New Years. The idea was that all the clients were on vacation so why not give the team a break from the usual 80-hour weeks.

We have an office shutdown between the 23rd and NYE.

Obviously I'm still prepping for January and closing any year end deals during that time.

But realistically the majority of my prospects are also busy/off at the same time.

The way our deals are setup, if I don’t have a deal on the finish line by early December, it won’t close until the following year. If that’s the case, then I take like 2-2.5 weeks off. If not, then 4-5 days.
