Holy Shit - time suck.

I just read this report from Microsoft, it's wel worth a read.

Employees are spending 252% more time in meetings since February 2020. That's brutal and so so many hours have been wasted by people wanting to feel important.

Check it out. I would love to discuss the other findings here.

I saw this earlier too. I routinely just don’t show up to meetings that are useless and I encourage everyone to try it out.

Without reading this I can tell you I already agree. I had 52 meetings total last month when I had my one on one yesterday. I was like, wut. 👀

My old manager would do this bullshit where we had a morning stand up right into a morning standup with more people.

And this fucker complained about working 19 hour days or something.

First off, any sales managers problems are their problems. Any of their teams problems are also their problems. That’s what they get paid for.

I just got out of a 3.5 hour leadership meeting just to do another 1hr condensed version of the same meeting but with the rest of the company…6 more people.

But honestly I do fall into that category lately. I have noticed i don't get shit done after lunch so I just fuck off and  take a break and get back at it for a couple hours later that night. Sometimes it is nice.

Due to C19 and WFH, everything has turned into a meeting. Calendar, scheduling, etc. you can’t just drop in and have a 5 min conversation now. You have to schedule it 3 days out and invite everyone who may have any involvement or interest.

I have run into people who's entire professional existence is going from meeting to meeting.  They wouldn't know what to do with their time if they weren't running to another meeting.

Thank you for this article.  That was a great read.

I changed jobs in the middle of the pandemic, and the number of meetings increased - but since my overall workload and productivity went up (as did my pipeline), I'm not sure how much of that is pandemic-related vs "here's how we are successful" meetings.    Thank heavens they don't tend to be useless meetings I don't need to be in, which makes me wonder who is getting caught in meetings for meeting sake.

99% of internal stuff is useless bullshit.

Had internal emails muted the entire time I worked at this one firm. Consequently missed all the emails from random specialists reprimanding me about missing meetings.

Managers and directors never once asked me about it, and I left as one of the highest performers on the team. Complete joke.
