Hopin sold for 15-50 million... WHAT

SO,

Used to directly compete against these guys and they raised over 1 billion in different venture rounds.

Well they were sold to Ring Central and the deal is for 15 million which could grow to 50 with certain milestones met...

This is awful, they had grown to be huge and clearly a case study of the problem with massive rounds and no true plan. Good for their CEO though. Terrible for all their employees.

As someone who was in a similar space, the employees got lucky. I knew AEs in the height of covid making 160 -180ishk there
Did they get the shit end of the stick eventually? Sure, but at the end of the day, Ring Central got a massively overvalued company for the post covid price, which is great for them I'd say.
More of these companies need to go extinct, the overvalued rounds, made-up metrics and bs was bound to come crashing down. Good riddance imo.

A lot of overhyped companies because of free VC/PE money. Not to mention the fact that there is still a lot of dry VC/PE powder left

I'm so out of the loop on conferencing software that I read the name as Hopin' (as in hopin for a payout) rather than Hop In.
Then I looked it up.

I doubt it is good for the CEO based on the capital preferences of the table.

CEO took 100-150 million in the prior round which is why I say that.
