20-30% of my time is prospecting. Before researching the company or the individual I am reaching out to I read through Salesforce activity and understand the relationship, or lack thereof, and any history or opportunities, RFP's, meetings, communications, etc. This may take 5-10 minutes depending on history but I find it adds to my preparation and value of my messaging or conversations.

Different story I feel when you're in AE land and opps are being handed to you.

I do an hour to an hour and a half of cold calling a day. Important to: block the time on the calendar. Make an appointment. Have the list + what you'll say ready to go the night before. This reduces call reluctance. Make it a habit. Do it the same time everyday then it will become second nature.

10 minutes? Homie... Lock yourself in a room and don't let yourself leave until you achieve X goals.

I was previously an SDR at a early start up and all our accounts were self prospected and It carries over to being an AE now because I've seen the success of these leads. I still dedicate 1.5 hours a day to doing that at EOD that I block off because it doesn't require as much focus and it's not hard, you really just have to put in the work.

Like all things sales, it's a numbers game. There's gonna be a deal you close in there, it's just whether it's worth your effort to find it. The secret is just wanting the $$ enough
