How to adjust the always #1 mindset?

I work my ass off everyday and always want to be the #1 from my team and make a lot of money. Unfortunately, I lose the battle this month and so disappointed and depressed.

How you guys deal with dat?

Next month is a new month. Get started and try your best. You can always try your best. Being #1 all the time is not guaranteed regardless.

Losing should be a motivator, what did they do better? What can you learn?

Don’t? A little pain once in a while can be a very healthy part of life.

Why is everyone always trying to run from the discomfort?

You lost. No big deal. Do better, swing harder next month.  I love being beat, it makes me so mad I come back and bury the competition.

You can’t be #1 every month. But can better yourself everyday.

It’s one month. Learn from it. Change it. Long game, yes. New month is here, like, now.

Rather than trying to be #1 amongst your team, try setting some goals that are relevant to where you are rather than comparing to the top.

You should be asking things like:
"Did I give my best effort on that outreach or discovery call?"

"What worked last time? How can I incorporate that more moving forward?"

Comparing yourself to others is a recipe for frustration leading to thinking things like "why should I even try?" After that happens its a hard cycle to break.

Losing is part of sales. You don’t have a 100% close rate and you won’t have a 100% leader-rate either. Leverage the losses as learning opportunities and a reminder that you hate to lose.

I deal with it by putting on my silk pajamas, grabbing a chai latte and listening to 12 straight hours of Gary V yell at kids about not giving a shit what their parents think. Im just build different I guess.

First, did you end up second?Only Ricky Bobby believes in your either first and last and he drives around with a Cuda in his car… don’t take life advice from him.
Take a step back and look at everything you can control, where you came up short and how to improve in that area. If you’re not sure how, ask in here or a mentor. You’d be surprised how often a top sales person will offer help. Someone helped them somewhere once too.
