I have had plenty of days Iโ€™ve thought about making career changesโ€ฆ that is a terrible leader. Manager sounds like they are overcompensating for something

I think most sales people have thought of getting out of sales. it's almost like we're trained to ask questions or something.ย

"is this what i should be doing with my life?" ,is an existential human question that transcends most careers.

Don't know the broader context of the conversation but your manny sounds young.

If youโ€™ve ever thought about getting out of sales, you truly love your sanity. Once you find it though, you miss the bipolar adrenaline-depression cycles.

If youโ€™ve ever thought that an employee pondering a career change means they were never committed, youโ€™ve *always* been an asshole.

Sure sometimes I think of doing something, anything different. But the thought is normally gone as fast as it entered my mind. What are you asking? If this is normal?

I chose sales as a career to make enough money so I donโ€™t have to be in sales anymore... The only problem with this is the wins are addicting and you end up staying in sales

How is that a problem? No one I've ever spoken to has told me "yeah, I went to college to get into sales or it was always my dream to be in sales". He makes it sound like there's a black and white choice.ย

I'm not saying its a problem per say. Curious really how it is perceived by the masses. I think I know what he is thinking but I agree it's not black and white and would venture to say damn near everyone in sales at one point or another has questioned their career choice

Does your manager expect you to do sales forever?? I mean isn't the goal in life to do really well at sales, get promoted to another position? Sales isn't end-all be-all, well at least for me. One day, I would like to move into management, or training, or VP. Sounds like a crappy manager to me, my friendย

Everyone thinks about it and I'm willing to bet that manager has thought about it at one point, he's just trying to be a hardo.

Most days I have something happen where I'm like..."F*ck this sh*t..." I always love a good "You have to be HARDCORE" manager, makes me feel good when they end up dropping out.

This is the leader that either didn't spend that much time selling themselves or its been too long since they did.

ย All it takes is a couple of shitty days where deals fall apart to make anyone think about getting out of sales.ย

Yes why does this happen to me often. Some days I hate my job so much but others I kind of enjoy it a little. I often think about starting to look for a non sales job but do not even know what I would do. I have a degree in business but hate the desk job life. Maybe it is just sales that I do not like but maybe it is the desk and office job that I do not. Taking it day by day and seeing what the future brings to me.ย
