Increase in recruiter outreach when you actively respond to inquires?

Every once in a while I'll respond to recruiter outreach on LinkedIn, and I find that each time I do, I start to receive an influx of opportunities in my inbox follows.

Does anyone know if LI tracks your receptiveness to LI recruiter outreach so they can feed that data recruiters and hiring managers?

I am a former recruiter, responding increases the likelihood of getting a message.

LinkedIn recruiter puts candidates in 4 filters, All Candidates, Likely To Respond, Open to New Opportunities, and Applied at your company.

I spend my time in Likely to Respond especially for niche roles where there are only a few that are listed on Open to New Opps

Plus recruiters have a limited amount of messages to send, but they get a credit back if you respond, so they are not going to spend time messaging people who haven't responded to the last 10 messages from other recruiters at the company

It MIGHT make you trend higher in searches, but pretty sure that kind of thing is a black box.
But I don't think it does.

I've not noticed any trend like that. Usually, I'll respond indicating interest (on the rare occasion I even get a message) and then I don't hear anything. I can only assume it's due to something I lack as a candidate, or I'm just a difficult person to work with for some reason. Either way, I feel bad for the recruiter who wasted their time reaching out to me. They probably did it by accident.

Maybe? Not sure what the algorithm does there. I know that I get interest in waves - feast/famine scenario.

Possibly something on their backend, the more receptive you are they may push up top to recommended leads to those paying for the recruitment platform.

Interesting question. I tend to get a bunch of messages around the same time also, but it's hard to know if that's because of my actions, or that everyone is hiring at the same time and I'm in a prime demographic.

Oh yes ! Hahahah I always think it's more of the suggestions that LinkedIn pulls up based on who's actively looking out / searching for jobs etc etc.

For all you mail mergers out there, do you see more success emailing one DM or all DMs on a custom thread? I've noticed that putting all relevant DMs on one campaign that is 100% customized to their business has a much higher response rate (28% meeting sucess)

When you have your LinkedIn account set to "open to work" and recruiters reach out all the time do you take the mindset of "I need to sell myself for this role" OR "The recruiter needs to sell the role to myself?"
