Intern tech sales pay

Hey I'm competing for a role at 2 cyber security company's as an SDR intern,  and they asked me how much $$$ I want in the internship offer. Both of these are just an hourly rate. Any number would be great I'm aiming for 25+ since I'm in Dallas Texas

Consider what they pay their SDRs full time as salaries. Don’t ask for more than that. Therefore, $25/hr may be out of the question.

Do you have any data on that?

If I made 25 an hour and I work regular 40 hour weeks I would make 48k. That is barely the base for the average SDR 😂. I’m being pretty sure it’s acceptable repvue average is 83k let’s take 6 k off cause it’s DTX it’s now 77k. I think they are getting a steal imo I was in an interview where they listed the pay as 35/hr + 100 dollar food stipend/ week + paid phone bill + “health and wellness” 100 every week as an SDR.

Is that OTE or Base for an SDR role at 83k?

Seems like Base is an average of $54k with 0-1 years experience. Sounds like $25/hr is right on.

Ask them what do they have in budget?

When I was looking for internships, I believe the most important thing is gaining that experience and have something in the resume.

So its more important to not price yourself out, even more so when there are not many companies that hire intern SDRs....at least I don't know of many

Agreed but both are the same pretty much so I’ll take either one tbh.

I'd say context is key. Don't toss a number that'll get you laughed at.

Have they had interns prior? Can you ask what they were paid?

Also my Bad they are both series B startups so they are in good shape. I’ll ask them about budgets tbh and see if we can work in their range. Both of them will give me great sales experience using Salesforce outreach etc to learning different strategies. They are both remote and I like both teams.

Be smart, get clarity on how much they are willing to pay and accordingly play around. Remember you might not be the only one in the race :)

I worked at a ski resort as a marketing intern. I did the 4:30am ski report and my boss bought me two slices and a monster every day. The pizza was sooooo good. Then he would drop a content deadline on me and I figured out Final Cut Pro in 30 minutes and became the video guy.

Haha awesome! I poured concrete a couple summers, was good money. But getting up at 5am and working hard labor for 10 hours wasn’t really my cup of tea

Can you find other interns, possibly, on LinkedIn that are in the same role? They may be able to get you a gauge.

Ask back, what's the best you could get me and just try to keep at around the 25$/h range let's say(20-24), if they couldn't do the full 25.
Much of luck.
