Internal and External meetings with camera off? Thoughts?

I had an AE who wouldn't turn on his camera unless the prospects did first, 70% of the time they never did, and it always felt like those meetings went smoother and better

I had a SDR friend who never turned on her camera internally, NEVER, and she did awesome at the company

Internal - off. I already know what my colleagues look like, none of them are hot, it doesn't need to be a video call.

External - I don't offer to turn mine on, but reluctantly will if the prospect turns theirs on. I'm really fucking good looking, I don't want prospects getting jealous that they don't look like an angel descended from heaven and mated with Aphrodite.

If my accounts have the cameras on, my camera is on. Internally, usually off.

I'm so used to having my camera on, it's kind of permanently on. It's always funny to me when midway through a call the other person turns their camera on.

People think seeing you will do something that it doesn't. The camera makes things more personable/personal. Not having it on without permission is likely what makes that AE more successful.ย

Make an environment comfortable so people can easily buy.

I am a fan of the camera for customer calls and for most internal calls as well.ย  Too easy to hide, not pay attention, etc.ย ย

Dont you want to make sure your prospects are paying attention to your presentation?ย  Nothing beats in person, but right now seeing them via video call is the best many of us might get.

true, so ask before you start the call maybe? Thats what this specific AE did, he wouldn't just jump into it he would say something like: so what about XX company made you want to take the call? Or before I dive into it, was there anything in particular you had a curiosity around? What specific things around (pain point) where you hoping to solve?

And then depending on that short pre interview in the first few minutes he would 'make it interesting' and engage with them along the way

Iโ€™m a camera on sort of guy assuming the hamsters that power uverse showed up both showed up. Best high speed in my zip my ass.
In all seriousness - not a fan of the platform but love their insights - gong published that deals are 127% more likely to close with cams on.

just mirror the client. If the client has it on, yours should be on. If it's off, keep yours off. Same as how with in person meetings you would try to match how you dressed to the client.
