you need to have a plan BEFORE you get the money. know exactly what you will do so when you get the $$$ you dont have to think about it.
I suggest figuring out %'s that you will use here is what I do:
- 50% to emergency fund
-20% to retirement (know where it will go, IRA 401k ect)
-20% to short term savings (xmas fund, vacation fund ect.)
-10% to charity

Just enjoy the moment, great achievements anyways will super blow your resume and get you always an advantage when it comes to better opportunities and getting promoted.

Avoid spending it all in a single shot. Buy something nice, but save for that rainy day which WILL come.

Orient yourself on where you are in the steps, then allocate part of your big-ass-check to moving forward on that framework.
Usually, I dedicate ~10% of any given commission check to splurging, then the rest goes to building my portfolio so I can accelerate my path to F-You money status.
