IT Services

Apologies if this has been asked already but want to get some input. Trying to get into SaaS sales, but have an IT services background. I have an IT services job opportunity, but don't know if I should take it or hold out for a SaaS role. Any advice?

2nd question - has anyone made the transition to SaaS from services without taking a major step backward?

If this is a job that is going to put food on the table, yes, take it. It’s been a very tough hiring environment for sales reps, and even harder for those looking to break in.

If this is a good company, you’re going to be able to get stable, and then start learning about possible lateral moves. At the least you will have bought yourself additional time to keep looking for that sales role.

Find a good company/product you’ve worked with and/or believe in and get in. Then work your way to the role you want.
Also, if you’ve been in IT services you’ve probably dealt with sales reps. Ping them, always utilize your network

Why do you want to get into software over services? people have a tendency to see the grass being greener in SaaS but its super company and industry specific.
Everyone and their dog can code a product but whether theres a market for it is a totally different story.
