We use teams, but i can relate. Personally, I find email more "official" if you may. People reach out to you on teams for all kinds of stuff, if it`s in an email, it is usually more specific, the thought of, and more "important" (talking about internal emails here). At least this is what I feel like, I`m sure I`m wrong :D

Who, GenX? 65-80. Left a whole group out.

That's ok, we're used to it, and will let ourselves in or out as we feel.

The Slack message would have sth to do with them being accountable, and the email would have sth to do with you being accountable. Incorrect?

Little accountability for me on either. Slack message was soliciting feedback on my proposal. Email was their accountability.

Yea fair, I'm all for that when needed. Can't share details of the message but nothing really there requiring proof or evidence.

As long as they are good with one medium, there are people on my team who will respond only via texts. Just learn how they communicate and adapt.

That's a slippery two way street, no? Shouldn't the VP be inclusive of adapting to their employees as well?

Yeah ideally they do all, but until they do I would just stick to emails.

When you get a chance bring up how they missed slacks in the past so they learn to start checking

This debate is ongoing. I think Slack is perceived as banter. A Slack commitment may not hold as much water as an email commitment. But a text commitment? That's a personal promise. They might short circuit if you ask for one there.

Probably cuz he's got to use emails way more in the past for business other than any other apps even with the managers above.
I bet though that he's been there at the company before anyone else or even any other messaging with created and has about +10-15 years of experience with the company, lol:)

Once you get hundreds of slacks per day, most likely more, you too will not respond casually.
