Negotiation Genius by Prof. Deepak Malhotra (HBS) - Book Summary

Hi guys, I keep coming across discussions & threads where members are asking for help with tackling negotiations in common sales scenarios but also while navigating new job offers.

I saw Jackywaky had shared Chris Voss's audiobook recently. So I thought I will share my own notes/summary (Bit.ly link below) of this book: https://www.amazon.com/Negotiation-Genius-Obstacles-Brilliant-Bargaining/dp/0553384112

It sure is an old one but:

(1) I already had a properly written summary of it. So why not just share it for others' benefit, duh!

(2) I think Chris Voss really nails it with softly manipulative, winner-takes-all kinda techniques which may or may not work depending on the rep's style or company ethos. Deepak talks more about creatively constructed shared-wins or non-zero-sum games which I feel is equally tricky (if not trickier) to pull off, but there's not enough insights shared around that. Of course, there may be some overlaps b/w all these guys.

I keep reading & maintaining such summaries for other non-fiction books. Hell, I once took a sabbatical after a job burnout and went through 150+ books in a few months, but that's a story for another day ๐Ÿค’ . Happy to share more once in a while if you guys don't give me any tough love for this nerdy shit haha. Happy learning & growing! ๐Ÿค“
