Hey Guys,
I really need your help attacking my resume. I've led a more unconventional life these past few years that I think makes me a less attractive candidate than the rest. I'm looking for ways to position my recent experience in the best way possible to land a sales job.
I was out of the country for around 15 months up until December 2022 (not working). Then when I came back, not knowing what I wanted to get back into, I decided to help my friend start his plumbing business (non-plumbing role). I would have continued, as we were just starting to rip, but I found out my wife is now pregnant.
It will be our first kid and now all I can think about is getting as many resources as I can for my family.
I have about 5 years experience in sales selling software. Doing mostly expansion plays and a few net new here and there. I had a strong 2 years before I went out of country but it just seems so long ago now I'm not sure how it will be viewed by hiring teams.
Please be harsh as I need the reality check. If you think you can help improve it I would really appreciate any advice.
Edit: Just updated the resume based on suggestions from comments. Thank you! Please let me know what you think.
