Promoting myself without promoting mysel

Hey Bravado warriors.

An all around AE here. I learned by throwing myself in the sea and learning how to swim. 5 years in Tech (Including 3 years I sales)

2 years ago I was a beginner. Now I am KILLING it. I brought our company their MOST wanted enterprise customer they were dying to have. They have been chasing them for 5 years. And I also closed some pretty other good deals.

Thing is, no one really knows about this outside of our company and my manager really doesn't appreciate my results enough. She doesn't coach me or help me progress. Really cares about those numbers only and also very cold towards me. (Everyone in the company praises me though and respects the accomplishments)

I want all my contacts and network to know how far I have gone and I want to build that brand of being a good AE outside our company. How can I do that for example on LinkedIn? Without shouting all my current customer names and sales results? And without my managers thinking I am preparing to leave (I am not but you know, gotta be always ready and brand is essential)

That's a thin line to walk but I don't think anyone would hold it against you for crediting yourself a big win. The profile here would be a decent way to do that to start - but on Linkedin, what's to stop you from singing about the win from the rooftops once they are properly onboarded to bring in similar clients?

I would even start advertising in your prospecting that "BIG COMPANY X" just signed up with us B/C A B C are any of those goals for your org this/next quarter?

Shout it from the rooftops, the world loves a winner and haters gonna be peanut butter & jealous.

I would have done that but I work in a highly competitive corporate sector. Most customers have an NDA with us so I am not allowed to share their names and also, I am bound by my employment contract not share any of my customers names...

you can still put a line item about closing a "major fortune 500 company" without naming them into your profile.

Maybe, even be a little more specific:

Whenever you win an award/hit prez club/finish a quarter way above quota you can post on LI. Its hard to do it without looking like you have a huge ego, but if you want your network to know thats an easy way.

Lots of reps put their rank/rev closed in the overview of their role if you are looking for a less in your face way to do it

I have seen guys doing LI posts about "what I have learned" - recently, today, or over their short career and then talking about how they have evolved. That may be similar to what you're wanting to do.

i would question WHY you want other people to know how good you are?

if you are not looking to leave you are for sure getting close to just wanting to brag about how good you are.

you can always list some of the stats you have on your linked in profile, and you could be more specific on your actual resume for when you want to send that out to recruiters or something.

Iโ€™m not what youโ€™re trying to achieve here other than boosting your ego which honestly wonโ€™t help you, will probably just make other people see you like full of yourself. Quite humble self confidence usually go a lot further imo.

Aside from that Iโ€™m not sure how your managerโ€™s lack of recognition of your achievements impacts any of this. What exactly do you expect her to do, go around promoting you internally? And if so how would this help you?

You can post your achievements on LI like everybody is saying no matter what your manager think or say.
