Questions to ask on AE Interview.

I was just recently let go due to budget cuts and have to start interviewing again for a new AE role. It has been a hot minute since I interviewed anywhere so I was curious what are some good go to questions to ask when interviewing for an AE Role?

Here's my list.

Some of these are questions I ask if the other AE is cool, others don't get asked if it's a more formal interview.

Most of these are worded in a way to get the answer without being too on the nose ("Where do the sales deals usually get hung up?" is about not where enterprise deals get hung up, that I know, but more is there anything about this culture or tech that needs to get ironed out. You can tell a lot about sales culture if they've got tech that needs fixing or if SalesOps doesn't approve things often, etc.)

Tell me about the Culture?

What is it like to work with the first line manager?

What is it like to work with the second line manager?

What about CRO/C-suite? (If it’s small enough for them to be involved)

What types of metrics do they use to guide the reps?
How do they apply those metrics? (note for Bravado, trying to suss out if they're a metric-driven culture that measures you on everything or if they're not doing this at all, etc.)
What are QBRs like? (what's the general vibe?)

Describe what kind of rep will be the $1m rep here?

Average deal size:

How confident do you feel about hitting quota?

What’s the partner ecosystem like? (are they sourcing deals or not?)

Tell me about the type of SE/SA you like to hire? Ideal profile? (Do they have good EQ or are they technical to a fault)

Where do the sales deals usually get hung up? (and why)

What kinks does the company still need to iron out?

Who do you think your biggest competitor is?

What other things should I know before starting here?

Gpt will be clutch here. But to answer the question, my fav is what concerns do you have about me as a candidate. If they say none, they prob aren’t considering you, but when you get the answer, you understand what you are up against
