Sales Training?

Hey guys - I know this question was asked around a year ago and it didn’t get much traction, so here goes again.

What’s everyone’s views on sales training aimed at AEs specifically - coaches like Marcus Chan and Ian Koniak.

Would be super interesting to hear from anyone who has received training from these two or anyone similar.

For me sales training (and this is me referring to structured, intensive training sessions) should be as needed if someone is struggling to hit numbers, deals are falling apart, etc. Other than that just stay on top of cool shit people are trying/doing that’s successful and, if you like and it works you, implement it

The best you can learn is from the team I believe. We did JB as a team (over a few weeks) and it really helped

I will say, John and his team do a pretty good job.

What are you hoping to get out of training? Are you looking for a one time thing or something on going?

As for the two you mentioned... meh
They both seem more like LinkedIn influencers than legit trainers.

Recently started in my first AE role (Jan) and I’m selling a market leading product with tons of inbounds. As a result quota is pretty high and the opportunity is unlimited.. I guess I’m looking for something that’s gonna take me from hitting target to smashing it

Gotcha. I assumed you were looking for training for your team.

I've never paid for sales training out of pocket. I've been through several training programs via work.

Personally I'd invest time in seeking out mentors in your network vs paying a stranger on LinkedIn.

This is my suggestion as well.   Get some best practices tips from those around you, and how they maximize their potential opportunities.  Sounds like a great place to be!

To me, Sales Training is like going to school. Provides a good structure and framework, however, there is no substitute for experience. "The sharpest of weapons are forged in the hottest fires"

Most of sales training is just rehashing the same thing over and over again.
If you want modern sales training - follow Gong on LI.  They have some good stats on what works.  That said, I'm not a big fan of Gong overall.  Their goal is to engineer (via real engineers) the heck out of the sales process and its not that simple as they want to make it.

Other than the training my company makes us go through at onboarding? Nothing.
