Selling a subscription for design services

Hello Everyone,

I need advice/mentorship. I am a new agency business owner and our model is unlimited design (or subscription based design agency).

Our service is 1 grand a month.

I am struggling to find the right way to find clients. Do you have any advice for me on how can I approach this problem?

Sometimes one spends so much time in oneโ€™s own project they lose focus, purpose., marbles, wallets Then they begin to drink excessively.. Some sniff glue. Often , this leads to divorce.

Oh, sorry wrong thread!
You should have a keen marketing eye look at that site. Then- Hire a salesperson!

Hiring a salesperosn is expensive. We can do that once we have a few recurring clients.

- Facebook ads
- Email outreach to old clients

What kind of projects do you want to work on? What kind of companies? Project size or length? Do you have expertise in certain design?

You probably have to sit down and answer some questions first before you can decide which clients to pursue

We are small team of designers and web developers. We provide design for anything in branding, print marketing or for digital presence. I believe that these services are need to run any business specially brick and mortar businesses.

Previously we were freelancers and were doing project based services. Now we want to move to a new model. We want to sell design subscription, in other words we want to be digital partner for the client and provide all these services for a flat monthly fees.

Our service delivery is pretty good but we are struggling to get clients for new business model.

That could be tough. Although many businesses need these items, they only want them when they need them. Would be tough on small companies to pay for sustained services they wouldnโ€™t use much.

These business often attends event and do campaign and for that they need new printed materials etc. Other than that they want their social media to be active.
And as a last resort, they can pause subscription when they want.

So you provide marketing services. Being paid to maintain a companies social media platforms is interesting. You would have to know a lot about the business and the players. Why would someone choose you guys to do this? Over doing it themselves or another avenue?

Its not only one thing we do. We are more of a digital partner to our clients. We design anything and everything related to branding, print material or digital things. We don't manage social media but we strategic content. We don't post anything our self on their social media.

So youโ€™re selling recurring retainer design services. Nice.

Where are you in the world and what type of business do you have strong portfolio success in?

We are small team of designers in Pakistan. We provide design for anything in branding, print marketing or for digital presence.

Previously we were freelancers and were doing project based services. And we have done 1000+ projects in alot of different industries like Real estate, medical, spa and what not. Primarily these projects were landed from 99designs.com

If you have done 1000+ projects already, thatโ€™s a gold mine for any sales exec you hire. I know you said itโ€™s expensive right now ti do that, but you wont engage these old customers with emails only - you need someone to pick the phone.

Question: 4
Agencies are expensive and the niche I am trying to go in can't afford agencies. I wanted to target local service businesses like pest control service, MedSpa etc. These owners are not very much into tech and I believe that they need a simpler and affordable solutions as simple as a in-house design person. Our CX is like they have a in-house design team on fingertips.

Question: 1
We have ran linkedin ads, which gave us 4% CTR.
Ad 1:
Heading:For every new Project, Hiring new freelancer is headache
Desciption:
Get a dedicated design team on fingertips for a affordable flat fees.

Ad 2:
Heading:Better company presence increases perceive value
Desciption:Get better designs for your company promotional material to attract more eyeballs.

Question: 3
Yes we have some of our work on our website.

Question: 2
No idea about that. How do I find it?

Not saying subscription model is wrong for you as designers...

But what exactly needs done each month for MedSpas, Pest Control, etc?

What would keep me from hiring someone on Fiverr for 1/10th the cost?
0
Senior Product Designer
They need their
- Website to be maintained
- Social media to be active
- And printables for every quarter

Fiverr is cheap, not only in price but also in quality. We give a very systematic and personalized experience as if they have an in-house design team.

What is your target market? Your edge? Why would I purchase these services from you?
1
Senior Product Designer
Every business needs designs done for their branding, print marketing or for digital presence. They have 2 options.

1- Hire a in-house designer(s):
No one designer can provide all these services, plus website developments etc. So that will be really expensive.

2- Hire different freelancers:
You will have to have a limited scope for every project every time and have to go through vendor hunting, proposals, negotiation and handling different projects in very unorganised fashion. Plus you will have to deal with freelancers' availability. HEADACHE!

3- Hire Agency:
You will have to have a limited scope for every project every time and even after negotiation, it will be expensive.

I wanted to target local service businesses like pest control service, MedSpa etc.

Our edge is that we are one stop solutions with affordable price and solves all above mentioned projects.

I will work on trimming content. Do you have any other advice for me to get more clients?

Yes, if you're going to use this freemium model, convert your "let's talk" button to a "start now" button and do what your site claims you do. If you're truly going to give a free trial, you can't make it conditional on a conversation.

Somebody is going to get you to work for free. But guess what. That's already happening with all of the outreach that isn't converting. This is a path with less friction for you and your customer.

If you deliver what you promise, you'll have earned a right to ask for a commitment. Just be sure you're there to ask for it.

I wish you the best of luck.

This is so valid! And we are up for this promise. I believe these 7 days we are going to make our client experience a friction less design delivery system.
But still to get best experience they need to signup to a Trello board which we provide.

I think "Start now for free" will ease them to click and then we can take requirements via contact form.
