Series A startups

Potentially going to be joining a series A company as the first AE. Any advice, hot questions, or things I should be aware of beforehand?

Any suggestions on negotiating comp as well?

Thank you!

Use the search bar. Myself and many others have opined on series A's previously.
My advice, don't.

I don't mind them, but I definitely concur with the search bar advice. It's been covered ad nauseam

How about series B then? They’re close to closing

I’ve seen more companies die at B than those who properly executed their A lifecycle.

They need to be willing to share everything so you know risk levels, funding, burn rate, addressable market, expanded tool plans etc.
Any non-answers is a no go for me, I've been burned once and refuse to go in again unless I'm fully informed.

I’d advise you to learn the proper spelling of advice. Details matter.

Fixed for you. While we're giving random advice, i advise you to throw some water in your daily routine instead of only caffeine ;) or, get some more rest! Cheers.

It’s a huge risk and you’ll problably have a bad time doing it. However depending on your background and experience you’ll learn a lot (hopefully) and could make a nice amount of money.

My tip: check who funded the series A and what their track record and style is like

big company? small company? is this in the same wheelhouse/industry/icp?

Mid to big size company, tons of consistent changes though. Goals, processes, focuses, etc. The experience and new company would fall in the payments / lending landscape so yes, same wheelhouse for the most part. ICPs are a little different but can overlap technically

new company in the payments space sounds tough to me. lots of rip and replace, and a race to the bottom when it comes to rates. have to show a ton of value or savings to get someone to replace a paypal/stripe etc - just my $0.02

its more on the lending to small businesses side than the processing in a checkout or instore. think business credit.
