Should I ask for a raise?

Hi guys,

My HR just send me a confirmation letter that I have passed my 6 mth probation. My question is ... should I ask for a raise?

Here's are my reasons

  • I'm the only sales closing large deals since I join. I got 1 more major deal coming in next week
  • I coached the new sales reps on cold calling, qualifying, and other sales technique. They were previously trained by a so call senior sales rep but they didn't learn jack from her so they drop the newbies to me.
  • I rebuild rs with partners who have bad blood with us. The sales team b4 us cooked deals for at least 2 Q. They were mass fired.
  • I have a Regional sales director with zero sales experience. She is sniping inbound leads away from me but I manage to keep my funnel healthy. Without inbound leads, I get leads from partners and other channels ( suck it u fking useless bitch)
  • I intend to use the raise to invest in tools like seamless.ai or ZoomInfo.
  • I have to deal with internal politics where connections with partners, events, and lead gen activities were never involved me.

I just got a note that we are hiring a new boss to manage all Sales in our region. He does not carry a quota himself.

Please share your advice. Thanks

if you have only been with them for 6 months I would hold off on asking for a raise.

Not that all of those things are not valid, but if you have those with a full year of going above quota then you have a stronger case.

Agree, you might have more leverage with more data and ask for a (slightly) bigger number with less pushback.

A) ask for a raise

B) wait till the one year mark

C) tell what you just told us to hiring managers and get that raise externally

You can do all of them

Sounds like you are a high performer - why would you limit yourself to a base salary increase (which will be nominal if anything).  Why don't you bet on yourself, and approach your leadership about a special over performance/bonus incentive for going above and beyond your designated target? Closing big ticket deals? etc.  -- Compensation scales in sales with performance, not base salary.

Present your facts when you have the discussion. The worst they can say is no. 🤷‍♀️

You’ve been doing the job they hired you to do. That’s basically it. Nothing more or less.
You want more money, sell more.

I say go for it.

If they don’t then they can lose you. Let them try to replace your #s

Try this trick-
Tell them you are getting external offers and hit up on LinkedIn on the regular.
Say its tempting. Ask what they can do for you.
