Should I quit or let myself be fired?

I don't want to get into the background of my situation in this post but will answer questions if asked. The short story is that I'm leaving my current company, I already have another job that I've started training and since it's a commission-only role, I'll need to be pulling double duty until those sweet sweet commission cheques start coming in. I've been very unhappy in this company for a long time, and it's been noticed in my attitude, I also have a new baby at home so I'm not getting a lot of sleep and my fuse is shorter than normal. About 4 months ago I talked to the CEO about how I felt and what I'd like to see from the company (basic stuff like a harassment policy and training after my wife and others were sexually harassed by the COO) Instead, I got a written warning about my attitude. Yesterday I had the 90 day follow-up meeting and received my 2nd written notice about my attitude.

It really feels like they're setting up to fire me. I don't really care, except I need the job for I'm guessing about 2 more months. So here's my dilemma... Do I do what's needed to play the game and keep my job for now, or do I try to get fired at my next review in 30 days? If I get fired it should come with an ok severance. I've never been fired from a job part of me wants to keep that record clean, but at the same time, my stomach is in knots having to come in and work with these morons every day.

Also, I'm 100% ok burning this bridge to the ground.

Should I wait to quit or try to get fired?

I would play the game. no guarantee what a severance package would even be, so do what you can to keep the pay coming in until you dont need it.

Unfortunately, the family situation means you have to stick it out as annoying as it will be. The best advice as obvious as it may sound is to not let it get to you and let them play child games while you are an adult

You need the money - and you have an exit strategy already planned with your new role starting in 2 months.
If you end up getting fired because, well, that's going to be how it goes. But if I was you, I wouldn't go out of my way to get fired with no details on a possible severance package, and if it would make up the $$ difference for you for those two months you have to bridge.

100% you've gotta put your ego aside and put your family first. It's... hard. But it's the right thing to do.

It does not, but I live in Canada so ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ Iโ€™ll lose my benefits, but Iโ€™ll be able to make more than enough to cover the difference

Getting fired could lead to severance or at least unemployment, which you forfeit if you quit

You are working a second job that they probably dont know about and certainly takes time away from the job they are paying you to do. And you have a shitty attitude which probably affects others on your team.

Sounds like your setting yourself up to get fired, not the other way around.

Ya I can see how it can look like that. In fact though, Iโ€™m still getting my job done and helping others on the team, Iโ€™m getting up at 4am and staying up late to make sure my new job doesnโ€™t interfere with my current one. I do have a bad attitude, but it didnโ€™t start when I found out about my pregnant wife being harassed. My bad attitude started when my boss found out Iโ€™m the one who encouraged my wife and the other girls to make a complaint that resulted in my bossโ€™s brother (the COO) to be fired, and she started taking it out on me. I find out about meetings I need to be in after they happen and then get in trouble for not knowing what was in the meeting. Or a great example just happened, I got written up for not taking other sales reps calls and not responding to their messages, my boss gave the name of 1 rep in particular. I showed my boss my phone log for the days she was talking about and had 0 calls from the rep who she said complained, and when I called the rep himself to talk about it he had no idea what I was talking about. Regardless of that, the written notice is staying.

My boss has a history of lying and manipulative behaviour which has caused others to quit before. And right now about 1/4 of our company has applications out for new jobs (those are the ones I know of) so Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s not just my bad attitude or in my imagination.

Tough choice. Always look to make the best long-term play that you can. Play the game, but work your ass off to find somewhere new.
Unless you truly hate them as individuals, burning a bridge is seldom worth it.
