The Frustration of Constantly Changing Compensation Terms with an Employer

I am beyond frustrated with my current employer's constant changes to the compensation terms, especially when they occur with less than a month left to close the quarter.

It feels like a never-ending rollercoaster of uncertainty and financial instability.

How can I effectively plan my quarter and meet the quota when the compensation and commission I rely on keep changing? It is demoralizing and undermines my trust in the organization.

Have you experienced this? May 20th a quota increment from 5% to 12% because "the previous model was not granting revenue to the organization"?

They probably screwed up on their initial calculations and now have to make correction. It sucks. Better to make a correction like that instead of one on which you loss your job.

Sounds like there isnโ€™t enough business being closed, and this is their response. Not a great org, but I have seen it in the past.

I have experienced this in the past and didnโ€™t have much control over the quota increase. I feel you.

Seems weโ€™ve all seen variations on this theme. This falls in the โ€œallโ€ bucket from the โ€œrevenue cures allโ€ cliche. Likely there just isnโ€™t enough getting sold. Sounds like you have nothing to do with that either. Just blows.

That is super annoying Iโ€™m sorry you are going through this.

Is there anywhere in your contract that covers you if this happens mid quarter or year?

You're not alone, if that makes you feel any better. 8/10 sales orgs *ucked up with their initial "forecasts" based on their very accurate "data" and "historic trends"

We just got an update that is retroactive to Jan 1. It didn't change profoundly, but it was a surprise. My company is usually pretty buttoned up.

That said, agree with the consensus that revenue cures all. Once sales start coming in, it will help immensely.

It was but not really. This makes a fair point, sales letters have not even been issued, so you hit the nail on the head.

NOPE. Not going to work. Set the rules we play by and then let's go. Changing in mid stream is deal breaker.
